I don’t know about you, but I’ve often thought that an hour was too small a time frame to get much done! Instead, I’ve missed going to the allotment on days when I only had an hour to spare.
Well not any more! Last week I went to the allotment, even though it was
- Forecast to rain (which it did)
- I only had an hour available (excluding travel time).
So how much did I get done in just one hour?
I managed to get the following things done:
- Watered plants in the greenhouse
- As it was raining, I was able to use ‘God’s water’ for the hotbeds.
- I sowed peas, lettuce, beetroot, spinach and salad onions
- I harvested a small bunch of spinach leaves
- I did some weeding.
- With help from my better half we laid down woodchip on almost half the plot!
I was truly surprised to see just how much was done in such a short period of time. I also discovered how much of a limiting belief I’ve had around this. I can see that an hour is a very useful and productive chunk of time, and a lot of things can be done. Additionally, I shouldn’t always let the weather put me off going to the allotment. There’s always something that can be done and more importantly, its such a boost to my confidence when I look back and see how much we got done.
Over to you, what have you been surprised to learn this week from your veggie patch?
